Street Fonts: Graffiti Alphabets from Around the World
Street Fonts — Graffiti Alphabets from Around the World is a book which can be considered by some people a worldwide literary phenomenon. Claudia Walde, best known as MadC, invited almost 150 writers literally from all over the world. She asked them to create Latin alphabet without imposing any particular technique. The result of this event is a book, which is almost perfect, as any fan will find something for himself.
In the book the author selected many well known names (such as Cakes, Rime, Kent, Rew, Loomit, Inkie, Smash137 or Zedz) as well as many others that you will probably hear about for the very first time. What’s more important, each artist no matter of his experience, gets the same amount of pages. It’s doesn’t matter if he paints for 30 or 8 years, each person has two pages for his works. The first page contains info about the writer, whereas the second one is strictly devoted to the alphabet the person has created.. Talking about Poland, it is worth mentioning that 6 out of 154 invited writers are Polish. That is a nice surprise. Our country is represented by such writers as: Rater, Riam, 4 guys from Typoets (Cheque, Paism, Panic i Serial).
When it comes to the alphabet – we have here an astonishing mixture. There are classical wildstyles painted on walls, monochromatic pencil sketches, some installations or alphabets made using computer. Diversity is the main strenght of this album and there is no possibility that someone cannot find anything for himself here. UrbanPirates.org highly recommends this book!
